Welcome to the Student-Led Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Clinic at ºÚÁÏÍø Health Clinics

Experience high-quality care provided by final-year physiotherapy students, closely supervised by qualified and experienced physiotherapists. We offer personalised, one-on-one appointments for adults and children aged 10 and above.

Whether you're recovering from surgery, managing a sports injury, or living with chronic pain, we’re here to support your journey toward better health and mobility.


What is Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy?

Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy focuses on treating conditions affecting muscles, joints, bones, and soft tissues. It aims to:

Your Appointment Experience

During your initial consultation, a student physiotherapist will:

  • Take a detailed medical history
  • Perform a physical assessment
  • Develop a personalised treatment plan based on your goals

Session Duration: 30 to 90 minutes (depending on student experience)

As a student-led clinic, our provisional physiotherapists do not have provider numbers.

This means:

  • No rebates are available through Medicare, private health insurance, or third-party providers
  • We are unable to treat conditions related to workplace injuries or motor vehicle accidents

Sports Physiotherapist and Associate Professor of Physiotherapy

Phil has more than 30 years of clinical experience and combines his clinical expertise and research skills to diagnose and treat with a caring, hands-on and exercise based approach.

Phil’s clinical interests include;

  • Acute sports injuries management and diagnosis
  • Sport related overuse injuries
  • Anterior Cruciate Ligament deficiency and rehabilitation
  • Physiotherapy in hip joint related pain, Femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAI)

Jack Mest

Jack Mest

Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist

Special interest in tendinopathy

Jack Mest graduated from Monash University, Melbourne with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2008. He has worked as a clinician since this time in sports injury clinics and sporting organizations across Australia and the UK

His diverse work experience includes working as the Reserves team physiotherapist for the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League and as an Academy Physiotherapist for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Jack completed his Masters of Sports Physiotherapy, graduating from Latrobe University in 2019. Following this, Jack received recognition from the Australian Physiotherapy Association as a titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist.

Through his post-graduate studies, Jack developed a special research interest in tendinopathy. He is first author on a publication entitled: ‘The prevalence of self-reported psychological characteristics in adults with lower limb tendinopathy’, which is currently under peer review prior to publication. He presented his work at the most recent ACT research symposium held at the University of Canberra.

Jack has always had a passion for education in Physiotherapy and currently works as a clinical educator and honors mentor for final year Physiotherapy students at the University of Canberra

Jack Mest

Alex Stuart

Alex has been treating in the Canberra region for almost 7 years after he completed his studies at the University of Canberra, acquiring both a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Biology and a Masters in Physiotherapy.

He has spent his carrier working in private practice, with his ongoing position as head physio and director of The Grammar Physio at Canberra Grammar School for the last 6 years. He also currently works as a clinical practitioner and educator at the University of Canberra student-led musculoskeletal physiotherapy clinic.

Alex is passionate about musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with a particular interest in neck and back pain, sporting injuries, shoulder injuries, headache & jaw pain.

He loves getting to know his patients and gain an understanding what motivates and drives them to be better and takes on a highly collaborative approach to set him and his patients on a path to get to where they aspire to be.

Alex is a former rugby player and has worked alongside various sporting teams in both rugby and AFL. This included head physio for Eastlake Football Club between, Canberra Grammar School Rugby program, along with local soccer and Aussie Rules football clubs in Geelong. Since working with these teams, Alex has gained much experience in sports physiotherapy with a particular focus on acute muscle injuries, knee, shoulder and running injuries.

Elliot Dobie

Elliot Dobie has extensive experience in rehabilitating simple and complex sport injuries with a special interest in Hip, Knee and Ankle injuries. With certifications in strength and conditioning, Elliot has the ability to maximise your injury rehabilitation and help prepare you for returning to sport, as well as preventing injuries in the future.

Angie Fearon

Angie Fearon

Assistant Professor, Faculty of Health, University of Canberra

PhD, M(Physio), BSc(Physio)

Angie has been working as a physiotherapist for over 30 years. During that time, she has extensive experience in working with people, and broad depth of academic and clinical skills.

Angie’s particular area of expertise is hip and low back pain. She also sees people with other conditions, including helping people to start exercising.

Angie aims to help people to understand their condition, and to help themselves. She aims to help people to find the way through the woods, not go around and around the same trees.
